Hunting the auroras by boat gives you more comfort as we have heated inside areas, an onboard café and great 360° viewing platform for panoramic views. Our expert aurora guides help you enjoy the lights and cruise to the fullest by giving you information about the auroras as well as answering any questions you may have. They even take pictures on the tour which you can request by email when you get back home! You can borrow one of our overalls to keep you warm, just remember to bring a hat and gloves.


Meet your trusted tour operator at the ticket office by the Old Harbour in downtown Reykjavík, where you will exchange your pre-paid voucher for boarding tickets. Our expert guide will then greet you in the Visitor Centre, which is facilitated on board an old fishing vessel permanently placed by the pier. We will take you out into the dark blue yonder of Faxaflói bay in search of the mystical phenomenon that are the auroras, leaving behind the bright city lights of the northernmost capital in the world, Reykjavík.


As the northern lights are a natural phenomenon we cannot guarantee that we will see them, but we partnered up with professional aurora hunters with years of experience searching for the lights around Reykjavík to offer this unique tour experience. For a good aurora pursuit we need three things; solar activity, clear skies and darkness and for this tour you have experts monitoring the situation all day. We understand that you don’t have many days to try and hunt down the lights so we will always go out if there is a chance! Our searching area is close to shores and around small islands, far enough away from city lights and therefore it is optimal for smooth and comfortable sailing.


If the lights fail to make an appearance we do not refund the tour price but instead we offer you to try again another day free of charge. You can go as many times as needed (within two years) to catch the show - at no extra cost!

Aurora is always a game of chance but our guide Arni may have made them come out by sheer willpower. He was super optimistic and kept going until we saw them, which was amazing. Just when everyone truly lost hope we got to see them. Arni made sure we all got enough time to see them, even if it made the trip go past its usual time window. This tour was awesome (the hot choc was also a great treat while we waited).

Had an amazing time on the tour ! Ragnar made the whole trip special! He was so passionate , knowledgeable, and enthusiastic telling all us all the amazing insights about Iceland and each location (#madonna). Tour was great. We were lucky to see the lights on the first day. Daniel was great your guide. Funny stories and great photography. On top of it, had amazing hot chocolate in -15 degrees with cinnamon buns. Would definitely recommend this to anyone who wanna see the lights and get great pics.

Very efficient boat and crew, comfortable with a good seated cafe area if you wanted in out of wind! No humpback whales but did see a Minke Whale and dolphins jumping and spinning out of water!! The guide explained at the beginning of the tour that many factors need to align in order to actually capture the Northern lights! So we had been preparing our expectations accordingly. The activity on the lights was forecasted to be only for the evening 4/9, but as the boat took off further from the harbour the lights lights became stronger and stronger. They felt so close as if we were surrounded by them, bright green and pink. A fantastic experience and one I'd definitely recommend!

Extraordinary!

We got very lucky on this trip and saw a lot of activity! Our guide Meghan did an amazing job and really got the crowd going. She spoke about the folklore of the lights and how they occur which was helpful. The boat also has jumpsuits you can wear over your coat (free of charge) which really helped me stay warm.

Amazing northern lights

Seeing the Northern Lights was amazing, they started to appear approx 10 mins after we left Reykjavik harbour and were with us for almost the whole trip. Staff were really helpful in directing us to the best spot to see them and taking photos/helping us to get good photos. I have also been sent pictures that the staff took which was very kind of them and much appreciated.
